If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably read lots of stories about entrepreneurial teens doing amazing things, from developing a hot new app to spearheading socially or environmentally mindful projects. Here at my company, VerticalResponse, we’ve met or heard about many of these incredible teens through our work with Startup Weekend and Women 2.0.
That’s why I’m thrilled that VerticalResponse is launching the Next Teen Tycoon video contest – we’re searching for tomorrow’s business leaders, today!
We’re looking for teens between 13 and 18 years old with cool businesses or viable business ideas. The top three contest winners will receive prizes totaling more than $10,000, like “seed” money to help launch or grow their businesses (including $4,000 for the grand-prize winner), a trip to TEDxTeen in New York and more.
Entrants simply submit a short two-minute video describing their business or business idea here. In addition to a public Facebook vote, we’ll have a panel of judges from the technology, youth entrepreneurship and small business space that will choose the winners, including:
- Arel Moodie (Author & Co-Owner of Empact, America’s Top Young Speaker
- Daniel Brusilovsky (Founder & CEO, Teens in Tech Labs)
- John Jantsch (Marketing consultant, Author & Founder, Duct Tape Marketing Consulting Network)
- Nicole Marie Richardson (Executive Editor, Special Projects, Inc)
- Ramon Ray (Small Business Expert, Author & Editor, SmallBizTechnology)
- Steve Mariotti (Founder, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship)
- And yours truly!
Time is ticking; the entry period ends February 3. So if you are – or know – a teen who’s been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, enter the Next Teen Tycoon contest now to share that business idea with the world and win – I can’t wait to see some amazing entries!
