Could Women Be The New Me-Commerce Tipping Point?

By Ashwini Nadkarni (Founder, Appguppy) The hottest disruptive force in e-commerce is me. And you. And her. In fact, tech savvy female consumers are the single most important factor in the new Me-commerce phenomenon – as well as the key market that Me-commerce companies will need to reach in order to achieve success.

This isn’t the first time around the block for Me-commerce, the practice of mass customization of products for consumers.

Dell revolutionized the world of personal computing with the same built-to-order business model several decades ago.

How Most Valuable Players Can Help Accomplish Goals

By Blessing Oshin (Blogger, Working Mom Journal) I have decided not to write New Year Resolutions this year. Here is what I plan on doing instead. I plan on focusing on three things this year, and why three things? I have noticed a trend in my own life that I can only juggle three things successfully in a given period.

I plan to focus on my career, family and fitness goals.

The next step is to identify my most valuable players (MVPs) for these three goals, because trust me, we all need MVPs on our team to help us move things faster, quicker and thoroughly.

How To Play To Win

By Carla Rover (Writer, The Advertising Technology Review) There's a disturbing trend in technology right now. Bright, highly-qualified women, regardless of where they start climbing the ladder at technology companies, rarely end up at the top.

Few women found technology startups, or at least, few women who found them get funded. It isn't a matter of an orchestrated push to keep women out of the boardroom by some misogynist club of investors and company heads. Qualified women aren't rising to the top because they are advancing the hard way -- without mentors, the right meeting skills, and, often, without the

Women Entrepreneurs: Making A Difference

By Joanne Wilson (Blogger & Angel Investor, Gotham Gal) Up to this point I have written about 55 women entrepreneurs. It has truly been an honor to meet so many women who are marking their own territory. Each of their individual stories is inspiring. This week I decided not to write about a specific woman entrepreneur, but about women entrepreneurs in general.

From my bird's eye view, this has been a year of change for women.

When Nancy Hechinger and I put on the Women's Entrepreneur Festival a year ago, we did so because we wanted to

By Elizabeth Boylan (Game Artist, iOS Developer and Founder, VectorBloom) If you can imagine, at VectorBloom we keep a look out for the latest and greatest trend in mobile development technology.

After custom developing a few Ecard apps in 2010, our company had various inquiries from small business owners and galleries wishing to publish similar art focused Ecard apps for the iPhone and iPad. The X Chromosome: What Is The DNA Of Women-Led Startups?

By Pemo Theodore (Founder, Ezebis) For over a year, I have been video interviewing venture capitalists, angel investors and women founders trying to investigate the apparent shortfall in funding for women led technology startups.

My goal has been to listen to as many people as I could from both sides of the table, in order to get a diversity of opinions on this controversial subject.

Whilst I have been doing these interviews, many people have said to me that no problem exists and that women can be as easily funded as men if they have a great idea, team, plan and advisors. However the statistics show another story.

The Girl Effect And The Global Female Entrepreneurial Spirit

By Blake Landau (Blogger, What's Your Story) Most of us would agree that education leads to a better life. At a certain age we discover that with economic freedom comes true freedom. If a woman has her own money she has independence, she has choices, she has agency to move about as she pleases.

A woman with an education can support herself, can start a company, and decide the path of her choice.

Let’s meet Sanchita -- a prime example of how with a little support and resources, girls can be entrepreneurial and start businesses for themselves and for their family.

How Universities Fail Women Inventors, Confirm Gender Bias

By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-In-Chief, Women 2.0) Bloomberg's Scott Shane wrote about how studies have shown "Male academics are much more likely than their female counterparts to start companies to exploit their inventions".

He writes:

"To figure out whether licensing officers favor the inventions of male inventors for spinoff companies, some colleagues and I conducted an experiment with 239 technology licensing officers at 88 leading research universities.

We randomly assigned a male name and picture
