Friday is International Women’s Day, the annual celebration of female progress, accomplishment and general awesomeness. Groups around the world are getting creative in their efforts to mark the occasion, designing events as diverse as women’s accomplishments themselves (and, of course, girl geeks and female founders are getting into the act):
- Skype is sponsoring the excellently named “Codess,” an engineering forum for women in Estonia. With interactive workshops, discussions and demonstrations it’s aiming to break down barriers to career progression for women in engineering. If you’re in Tallinn, here’s more info.
- Little Miss Geek is running a school takeover, “bringing tech’s most influential women to the classroom to unveil the mystery behind tech & inspire girls to become tech pioneers.”
- Female founded Scottish crowfunding startup Bloom VC is offering “a special ‘commission-free’ opportunity for female crowdfunders” to celebrate.
- The Guardian is marking the day by putting out a call for “African women to watch in 2013.” The list of honorees is out on Friday.
- And, of course, Women 2.0 will be marking the day with Founder Friday events in 17 cities.
Cool celebrations, every one, but the event we’re most interested in, however, is yours.
