NewMe Accelerator Pop-Up In Miami (November 12-14)

The NewME Pop-Up is a concentrated, three-day version of the critically acclaimed 12-week startup accelerator to be held in Miami.

Miami’s diverse culture and growing entrepreneurial presence has NewME Accelerator, a Silicon Valley program designed to launch underrepresented entrepreneurs in technology, hitting the road to do its first ever Pop-Up Accelerator.

Miami’s technology ecosystem has witnessed tremendous growth over the years. According to the county’s economic department, the 2011 average wage in Miami’s technology sector was nearly $80,000, well above the average $45,000. In addition, The Miami Downtown Development Authority has committed $460,000 in funding over two years for operations for new Miami technology accelerator Launch Pad. Miami-Dade County is investing $1 million over four years to fund the grants to entrepreneurs.

The NewME Pop-Up is a concentrated, three-day version of the critically acclaimed 12-week Silicon Valley startup accelerator that plans to contribute to this growth by engaging the local Miami tech scene with this special event. The Pop-Up program in Miami will be held November 12-14, 2012 in partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The LAB Miami.

Participants will get one-on-one mentorship, a two-part Art of the Pitch Master Class, and a Demo Day with the NewME team and special guests like Erik Moore, founder and Managing Director of Base Ventures and Scott Kupor, partner and COO at Andreesseen Horowitz, and Brian Brackeen, CEO of Kairos. Demo Day participants will pitch to win perks and prizes from NewME’s partners.
