Happy Labor Day: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs!

This weekend, we celebrate women entrepreneurs for all their hard work!

By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Women 2.0)

In the past 15 years, women-owned businesses grew by 54% – there are more women entrepreneurs than ever.

The 8.3 million women-owned businesses in the United States account for nearly 30% of U.S. businesses!

The bad news: However, women attract only 5% of the nation’s equity capital, and when it comes to first-year funding, women receive 80% less capital than men.

Women-owned businesses also falter in growth as theyreach 5-9 employees or earn $250,000.

The good news: Educational services, health care and social assistance, entertainment and recreation are the industries with the fastest growth and greatest share of women-owned businesses. There are many industries ripe for disruption by women entrepreneurs.

And we at Women 2.0 are always here to help, whether it’s putting women entrepreneurs onstage to pitch to investors at the PITCH NYC Conference on November 14, or by hosting our monthly Founder Friday networking mixers to connect women entrepreneurs with investors and more.
