IndieGoGo today announced raising $1.5 million in funding led by Metamorphic Ventures, MHS Capital and Steve Schoettler, Co-Founder of Zynga.

IndieGoGo was founded in January 2008 by Danae Ringelmann, Slava Rubin, and Eric Schell. IndieGoGo campaigns have raised essential funds in over 200 countries –– from the first affordable consumer 3D printer in the UK to a cupcake company in Brooklyn to a successful liver transplant in the Congo.

Danae serves as an Advisor to The Conversation, and Fast Company Magazine recently named her one of the Top 50 Women Innovators in Technology. Passionate about helping artists and entrepreneurs embrace the DIWO (Do-It-With-Others) approach, Danae speaks often at conferences. Recent speaking engagements include SXSW, PGA, MAD Hong Kong, TieCon, and Big Omaha.

Prior to IndieGoGo, Danae was a Securities Analyst at Cowen & Co. where she covered entertainment companies including Pixar, Lions Gate, Disney, and Electronic Arts. Danae also focused on cable network, NFL, newspaper and hedge fund clientele while at JPMorgan’s Investment Bank and Private Bank.
