While Astia and Golden Seeds remain the hubs of angel and first VC round funding exclusively for women entrepreneurs, Double Digit Academy emerges as a one-day bootcamp to prepare women for raising capital.

By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Women 2.0)

Serial entrepreneur Julia Pimsleur raised $25 million in funding, and is making a business out of helping other women succeed in raising double-digit funding, launching Double Digit Academy this year to change the odds for women raising venture capital. A frequent speaker on entrepreneurship, women in business and raising capital, the New York-based entrepreneur shares advice and best practices from her own experience raising capital.

In numbers, the Double Digit Academy website highlights:

  • 30% of privately-held businesses in the U.S. are women-owned.
  • 4% of venture capital invested in the U.S. goes to women-run companies.
  • 1.8% of businesses in the U.S. generating over $1 million in revenues are women-run.

To close the gap of women entrepreneurs building companies generating over $1 million in revenues, Julia Pimsleur is helping other women achieve what she did – raise funding for big dreams.

Held quarterly in New York City, the one-day bootcamp is a rapid education for women entrepreneurs who want to learn to pitch for capital – from large angel rounds to venture capital. Other organizations offering events for women entrepreneurs raising venture capital include Golden Seeds, Astia and Pipeline Fellowship (social entrepreneurship only).
