By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Women 2.0)

Beauty startup Coterie SVP of Marketing and co-founder Catherine Magee has raised a seed round of $1.5 million from SoftTech VC, Javelin Venture Partners and Michael Jung. Catherine Magee is a marketing executive with experience expertise in direct-to-consumer marketing and new product launches, having worked at Visa, Bare Escentuals, BearingPoint and L’Oreal.

Currently a beauty e-commerce site, Coterie promises to be a “technology platform for online beauty shoppers, curating and editorializing peer-influenced exclusive offers, then enabling replenishment of these items direct from their personalized virtual vanity,” according to a recent press release. The funding will accelerate development of the virtual vanity feature among other things.

Congrats to Catherine Magee and the tam at Coterie for aiming to disrupt the beauty space – it’s about time!
