    From a wap or web perspective? Wap seems to be dead except in Europe, but web which is not necessarily growing as fast as it could except on the iPhone – this is a tough call as there is an issue with browser standardization across the mobile platform.
    From a business perspective, ideally it would make sense to leverage the geolocation data of mobile users and to push local services, etc. For my projects, I am specifically leveraging the longitude/latitude tracking capabilities of phones in order to track people for fun and profit!

    Here in the Public Sector are thrilled with the opportinity for mobile web. We plan to use the technology to enable Public Safety web-based applications in the field for all First Responders and government personnel. This includes enabling systems that provide wireless video surveillance, geo-location services, facial recognition/biometric technology, enhanced database access and more. This will truely enhance the ability for Police, Fire and all First Responders to do their jobs effectively. Mobile web will provide enhanced interoperabiliy for Public Safety, streamline business process through all levels of government, and increase the safety and quaility of life for the general public.

    The potential of the mobile platform is only now being tapped. With Quillpill I want to empower our users to have more at their fingertips than just passive entertainment and information. Quillpill allows people to use their spare time for creativity and passion. With control of their free moments between meetings, riding in a cab or train, or simply waiting for a friend to show up for coffee, writers can relax with their phone. Quillpill gives aspiring authors and amateur writers tools to take advantage of their spare moments for writing. This is creativity on the go.
    In Japan, the cell phone novel movement introduced an entire generation of non-readers to literature. Particularly for the teen and young adult demographic that is accustomed to entering text on their phones, Quillpill gives educators an opportunity to inspire students to read and write in a way that is more convenient and relevant to their lives.

    I plan to take advantage of the mobile web for my business to help bring more awareness on things people can do to reduce their climate change emissions. i.e. twitter, facebook, blogsEverything we can do (no matter how small we think it is) can make a huge aggregate difference.

    Imagine for a moment these scenarios: a busy parent who wants to have more time with her kids, a professional who wants to reduce her commute, a farmer who needs access to live market information, a business who needs to reach its customers in another country, a homebound adult who needs delivery service, a teenager who feels alone. The isolation that these people face in attaining their goals can easily be overcome through mobile web technologies.
    My aim is to design mobile web technologies that assist isolated individuals in accessing the information they need to enjoy a happier, healthier life.

    I am a Master of Information Management & Systems student at UC Berkeley’s School of Information. I am studying mobile information and communication technologies, like the mobile web, in order to design applications that meet the needs of isolated users, like rural farmers or the homebound, in exchanging the information they need to improve their quality of life.

    I plan on using the mobile web to explore geo-locational apps outlining push tips on safety, amenities and SF topography(hopefully for a friend at the SF Bike Coalition) as well as to further opportunities in crowd sourcing and NGO fundraising- ie. life casting, flip book style chronicling (Daily Mugshot for construction projects), personalized text-based fundraising and action campaigns.

    I use the mobile web and social media on my personal life to mobilize friends and fellow activists in creating awareness about health care reform, organ donation, and protecting environment.
