Where Are They Now? The 2012 PITCH Finalists Today

We check in with previous PITCH finalists Tiny Review and DocPons founders on their ventures.

PITCH 2012 winner Melissa Miranda (Co-Founder, Tiny Review) reports “everything is going well! We got so much out of PITCH. The opportunity to be up on stage reaching such a great audience of fellow entrepreneurs and investors was energizing. After presenting on stage and seeing the reactions of the 1000 people in the audience, there was no doubt that we had to focus on personal expression as opposed to reviews. We decided to redesign the app and we’re excited about where this is going.”

Finalist Dr. Susan Nicholas, Founder and CEO of DocPons recently announced her selection to be one of only 10 women-led startups joining the elite Astia community for this summer’s New York program. A comprehensive healthcare company, DocPons is an online platform for purchasing quality, discounted outpatient healthcare services.

She talks about the Women 2.0 experience earlier this year: “Being selected to pitch at the Women 2.0 2012 PITCH competition was a distinct honor. The organizers, audience, and fellow presenters were very encouraging and supportive. Since winning the prize for ‘Product Most Likely to Change the World’, I have had meetings with top venture firms in Silicon Valley and San Francisco and have had increased awareness of DocPons,” Susan said. “I also benefitted greatly from the mentorship and follow-up from the organizers. I continue to follow Women 2.0 and I know Women 2.0 continues to follow the progress of my company.”

Apply for the next PITCH NYC startup competition open to early-stage ventures with at least one woman on the founding team. Prizes include $25,000 cash and a host of services to get your startup off the ground. Deadline to apply is August 31, 2012 – for details and to apply, click here.
