So You Want to Be An Entrepreneur in in Toronto?

Toronto has a blooming tech scene and we could not be more excited to be apart of it. MasterCard is helping us launch City Meetup in Toronto for the first time Nov. 6th. Come out to network with entrepreneurs in technology.

kat1Katherine Hague (Co-founder, Shoplocket & The Blueprint)

Hague launched Shoplocket, a platform for hardware entrepreneurs looking to bring innovative products to life, in 2012 (acquired by PCH International) & The Blueprint, an online retail destination, in 2014. Prior to founding those companies, Hague worked in a variety of marketing positions for Toronto startups.

Garten is the CEO of InteraXon, the company that is responsible for Muse, a lightweight headband that senses your brainwaves and can turn your thoughts into actions. Yes, it sounds like something out of a syfy movie and yes it’s real. She previously was a psychotherapist and neuroscience researcher.

JobBliss, an online service that connects freelance talent with employers, was a finalist at this fall’s Women 2.0 PITCH Competition. Prior to starting JobBliss this year, Kramer worked extensively in marketing world. She was the VP digital creative director at isobar, creative director at Digital C and principal/creative director at Fuse Design.

Wang, who has a background in the health industry, launched myHealthSphere this summer. The gamified mobile app builds and reinforces healthy habits. In addition to being the CEO she also works as the health data expert of the company.

Brika, is an online shopping experience that highlights the storytelling behind the craft founded.Koss is a Julliard-trained cellist and started Brikain 2012, after connecting with her Kena Paranjape, her co-founder.

Before founding Brika with Jennifer Koss, Kena worked as the director of merchandising for Pistachio and Indigo and worked on marketing for Old Navy, Banana Republic and Joe Fresh Style.

Brizi, effectively a tiny blimp that captures photo and video from aerial views, was launched in January of this year. The drone flies above a social setting and captures images for social media. Before Brizi, Hu was at Microsoft and participated in The Next 36.

 

 

319c64cIsabel Hoffman (Founder & CEO, TellSpec)

Hoffman is the behind TellSpec, a biohealth technology that analyzes the chemical composition of food -identifying calories, carbohydrates, fats and more. Hoffman has a health background in health and previously founded GenoSolutions, also a healthtech startup.

Ami is the CEO & co-founder of Peekapak, a company reimagining the way children play. She is currently part of the Imagine K12 Accelerator Program in Silicon Valley and JOLT Accelerator in Toronto.  She previously worked in brand management at Procter & Gamble and attended graduate school at INSEAD.

Delorme is the co-founder and CEO of www.rentfrockrepeat.com, a collaborative consumption ecommerce company that is disrupting the retail business model one designer dress rental at a time. She was awarded best multi-channel retailer for the Ecommerce Innovation Awards.

Kristy Wieber is the co-founder and president of www.rentfrockrepeat.com, a collaborative consumption ecommerce company that is disrupting the retail business model one designer dress rental at a time. She brings with her more than 15 years of sales management experience and is in cahoots with Lisa Delorme, co-founder and CEO.

Eve Medical is a medical device company dedicated to enhancing the experience of healthcare through design. With a background in industrial design, Jessica co-developed HerSwabâ„¢, a device that enables women to conveniently collect their own samples to screen for vaginal infections such as HPV (the virus that causes cervical cancer)

Think Dirty is an advocacy commerce platform that educates consumers about the potential toxic ingredients in personal care products, and encourages them to vote with their money for the most socially and environmentally responsible manufacturers. Prior to founding Think Dirty, Lily has been an award-winning Art Director in advertising and design for 13 years for clients including; Harvard Graduate School of Design, MIT, American Express and Mercedes-Benz.
