So, You’re Coming to Vegas: Your Guide to the Women 2.0 Conference

Hot off the press –  full details for the Women 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas.

By Jessica Stillman (Editor, Women 2.0)

We’re thrilled you’re joining us at our upcoming conference in Las Vegas. Here’s everything you need to know about what we have in store for you. (If you haven’t bought your ticket, no worries, you have till Oct 14 October 31 11:55 p.m. PDT, but after that prices go up! And if you need a price break – check out the discounts we have available.)

With just over a month to go before our Las Vegas conference, team Women 2.0 is buzzing around getting everything ready. We’re hoping you’re as excited as we are! To help you prepare and get excited for two days of world-class mentoring, inspirational speakers, and intimate networking with top names in technology. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know about the upcoming event.

Who Comes to Our Conferences?

First time at a Women 2.0 conference? Get ready for a room of like-minded men and women who want to change the world. Attendees come from all over the globe and range from people who are looking to break into the technology scene, to experienced engineers. From designers at startups to CxOs at big technology companies, and angel investors to startup marketing and business mavens, it’s a wonderful mix of people bound together by the common bond of making a difference in this universe through technology.

Speakers, We’ve Got Plenty (Including NEW Speakers!)

With almost 100 top names from startups and tech companies on both coasts confirmed to speak, you’ll need to be be strategic so as not to miss everyone you want to see while also fitting in meetings and networking (and also enjoying some of that sunny Las Vegas weather). Check the bottom of this post for a complete lineup of speakers, including investors, successful founders and top tech executives, and take a look at the agenda on the conference website.

Judges (aka Investors)

If you are planning on slipping away for a quick one-on-one with an angel investor or possible technical collaborator, one event you definitely won’t want to miss is our PITCH Competition. Over the two-day event ten finalists will pitch their startups live on stage in front of an all-star panel of judges, including:

  • Andrea Zurek (Founding Partner, XG Ventures)
  • Albert Wenger (Partner, Union Square Ventures)
  • Andy White (Partner, Vegas Tech Fund)
  • Joy Marcus (Managing Director, DFJ Gotham)
  • Jeff Clavier (Founder, SoftTech VC)
  • Aileen Lee (Founder, Cowboy Ventures)
  • Shanna Tellerman (Partner, Google Ventures)
  • Christine Tsai (Partner, 500 Startups)
  • Jenny Fielding (Head of Digital Ventures, BBC Worldwide)

Intimate Lunchtime Mentorship

Do you work at a tech startup? Or a big tech company? Are you a current or aspiring founder? Or maybe you aren’t in tech and are looking to break in. No matter what stage you’re at, we could always use your perspective and guidance that comes from the journey of those who’ve been on the road before us.

Think luminaries like that will only be on stage and therefore off limits to the average conference attendees? That’s the difference between Women 2.0 and other tech conferences! Our events aren’t huge, impersonal cattle calls — we focus on intimacy and genuine human connections, so even those early in their startup journeys get a chance to mingle with some of the top names in Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley.

Take our mentorship sessions on both days of the conference, as an example. An opportunity to really get to know investors and mentors in a small group setting of just five to seven participants, these lunchtime sessions are a great chance to get your work on the radar of the sort of people that can really make a difference for you, such as:

We Don’t Do Boring…

…and we know neither do you, so amidst all the all serious and in-depth discussion of the ways tech is changing our lives, we’re also sprinkling in plenty of fun with our full-on wearables fashion show presenting mind-bending work at the intersection of art + fashion + technology. You’ll see a runway demoing work from female-founded MACHINA from Mexico City, Hate Couture from New York, SENSOREE from San Francisco and Hövding from Sweden.

Oh, and famed famed Thievery Corporation drummer, Congo Sanchez (along with guest MC Flex Mathews and vocalist Haile Supreme) will be DJing the fashion show and giving a private concert to kick off our Founder Friday event at the close of the conference. Lucky us!

Wallet Savers…

… most necessary given the government is apparently out of business!

We want our conference to be accessible and welcoming to everyone, so we’ve got a range of discounts available, one of which might apply to you (are you bootstrapping? A Women 2.0 conference veteran? A member of corporate group coming together? Do you know our CEO?) All of these amazing sessions are great to drive yourself forward, but only if you can actually get yourself to Vegas to experience them.

We’ve also been monitoring the flights to get into Vegas and out of major cities. It’s pretty affordable, but dont wait too long to book!
