5 Productivity Apps You Need to Try Today

Check out these five women-powered productivity app companies that boost your productivity!

By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Women 2.0)

Who doesn’t love a good list, especially a list of to-do’s?

Now add the power of new technology to the traditional to-do list and productivity guidelines – and some women entrepreneurs – and you have some real productivity apps!

To-Do & “Done This” Apps

Hailing from Berlin, Charlette Prévot co-founded Wunderlist as her bachelor’s thesis. Then a case study to demonstrate story telling as a marketing tool, today Wunderlist is known as a beautiful and simple to-do list application for mobile and web designed to help your team better collaborate and prioritize your tasks.

New Yorker Ginni Chen is Chief Happiness Officer at iDoneThis, a company makes super easy-to-use software which helps teams track and celebrate the progress that you make at work every day. When your team gets stuff done, you can easily track and see the tiny (and big) contributions everyone has made. iDoneThis boasts testimonials from tech companies like Foursquare, Code Academy and Olark, iDoneThis is ideal for teams moving so fast that nobody has time for long meetings – when getting things done quickly, you still have to make sure everyone across the company know what has been done to avoid duplication of efforts and increase team communication.

Now I am a big fan of to-do lists, but Hetal Pandya and her team at EasilyDo believe you can have an all-in-one assistant iPhone app that makes you more productive AND more connected – without to-do lists! Instead, the app works to automate small tasks across email, calendars and accounts on Evernote, iCloud, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter…

Productivity Apps

Co-founded by MIT engineer Aye Moah, Baydin develops Boomerang for Gmail and Calendar to help people schedule sending emails and email reminders. To help keep track of important emails, the tool Boomerang can help send a reminder if an email is not replied to in a certain period of time. For startup CEOs (“Chief Email Officer”) and all productivity-minded techies, be sure to check out Boomerang as a great email management tool.

For the efficiency-minded, TaskRabbit was created by a former IBM software engineer turned entrepreneur named Leah Busque. She is now CEO of the task and errand service that helps you outsource small jobs and tasks to others in their neighborhood. Don’t clean your apartment, straighten out your office or pick up your dry cleaning if your time is better spend on your startup or at work – just get a TaskRabbit to do your work for you in a trusted and efficient way!
