1,000 Stories Campaign Launches To Help Women Entrepreneurs

The Story Exchange is looking for women entrepreneurs for our 2013 video profiles. Tell your story and join the 1,000 Stories Campaign now to be considered.

It’s no secret that small businesses are the key to our economic recovery. But how will growth be achieved? Many are banking on women entrepreneurs.

In the U.S., women-owned businesses contribute nearly $3 trillion to our economy, and they are growing at more than double the rate of all firms. If these trends hold, women entrepreneurs will generate more than 5 million jobs over the next six years.

But, the truth is, we don’t know very much about these women who could help return the country to full employment. What we do know is that women still face obstacles – for example, women seeking first-year financing receive about 80% less capital than men.

That’s why The Story Exchange (a non-profit global video project encouraging women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship) has just launched the 1,000 Stories Campaign.

“It is vital that we create a new narrative of entrepreneurship. The stories and the optic are so often male,” said Victoria Wang, co-founder of The Story Exchange. “Our 1,000 Stories campaign will give women a platform and reveal their entrepreneurial needs.”

They want to put a face to these women who range from working on startups from their kitchen tables to heading up innovative, high growth firms.

It is critical to have women in technology included in the 1,000 stories campaign so they are asking entrepreneurs from Women 2.0 to share their stories.

All of the women who submit their story will have their stories appear on our site – so it’s a great way to promote your business. The submissions will be used to find candidates for future videos and blogs. You can learn more about the campaign and share your story here.
