Square Code Camp Contest Offers Immersion Program For Female Engineers

Code Camp is Square’s immersion program for women engineers.
By Jude Komuves (VP People, Square)

Square started with three engineers in an apartment. Three years later, we’ve grown to over 400 people and helped over 2 million individuals and businesses get started and grow their business with our tiny credit card reader.

Great ideas can come from anywhere, which is why we’ve worked to build a culture at Square that encourages collaboration, diversity, and entrepreneurship. These principles are core to our culture and are just as important to us today as they were when we started, and we’ve continued to prioritize and encourage exploration as we’ve grown: from company-wide trips to local museums and art galleries, movie nights, sports clubs and outdoor adventures.

With Code Camp, our upcoming immersion program for women engineers, we’re bringing together people with a passion for building and making things both functional and beautiful.

Code Camp is a three-day interactive experience at our San Francisco headquarters that will include conversations and mentorship sessions with Square’s leaders, hands-on developer workshops with teams from across the company, networking opportunities with peers, as well as tours around the beautiful and historic Bay Area.

Our goal is to encourage women in technology to interact with people from across the globe to gain real-world knowledge and hone their skills. Better work and ideas come from a diverse set of minds and experiences and we’re excited to kick off this program.
