Women In The Boardroom: A Discussion On Leadership And Decision-Making

Join Box Women’s Network for “Women of the Board” on September 11 in Palo Alto.

By Clarissa Meily (Strategic Alliances Manager, Box)

Successful corporate decision-making starts with a diversity of perspectives. The more diverse a company’s board of directors, the more likely they are to accurately reflect the employees, shareholders, and customers that their decisions impact.

Studies show that companies with female representation on the board of directors outperform those with all-male boards, yet in Fortune 1000 companies, only 14.6% of corporate directors are women.

The Box Women’s Network is proud to host “Women of the Board”, a panel discussion with four of Silicon Valley’s most influential female board members. We will explore what it takes to lead a company at the board-level and the career decisions that led each of these women to a seat at the table.

The discussion will reveal their thoughts on leadership and decision-making in high-growth environments. We will also find out the characteristics that board members look for in a company before joining, as well as gain insight into what factors entrepreneurs should consider while choosing their own board of directors.

Influential Women of the Board

The speakers for this event include four women with vast experience in leading high-growth companies – Dana Evan, Heidi Roizen, Stacey Bishop and Rebecca Lynn.

Dana Evan is on the board of directors for Box, SurveyMonkey, Proofpoint, Second Life, Fusion IO, Everyday Health and Health Trust. Dana was formerly the Chief Financial Officer at Verisign.

Heidi Roizen is a Venture Partner at Draper Fisher Jurvetson and a board member of TiVo, TrustedID, ShareThis, XTime, and Prysm, Inc. Heidi was formerly VP of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple and a Managing Director for Mobius Venture Capital.

Stacey Bishop is a Managing Director at Scale Venture Partners and currently serving on the board of Vitrue and NComputing. Stacey also works closely with Scale VP portfolio companies Box, DocuSign and Hubspot.

Rebecca Lynn is a Venture Partner at Morgenthaler Ventures and serves on the boards of Lending Club, Pageonce and Socrata. Rebecca was formally VP of Marketing for Next Card and led product development for Proctor and Gamble.
