Kickass Women Founders Wanted For Betaspring's Fall Accelerator Program In Rhode Island

Deadline to apply for early admission is May 21, 2012 for Betaspring accelerator in Rhode Island.

A startup accelerator based in Providence, RI, Betaspring is now accepting applications for our Fall 2012 accelerator (kicking off on August 20, 2012). Early application deadline is May 21. Final application deadline is June 5.

Accelerating the development and launch of women-led ventures is a huge, and largely untapped, opportunity to grow new startups across the globe. As a member of the largest network of startup accelerators in the United States, Betaspring is committed to increasing the percentage of women-led ventures launched through accelerators each year. Our Spring 2012 accelerator program just wrapped with 16 teams emerging strong and well-positioned to achieve follow on investment and/or build a path to profitability.

Among these companies were some incredible women entrepreneurs, including:

  • Founder and CEO Kay McGowan has taken her life’s experience as a purveyor of luxury goods and created a story-telling driven platform A Curated World for bringing artisanal goods from across the globe to your door step.
  • Hannah Chung is Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Sproutel, a design-driven company creating interactive toys for children with chronic disease. In 2012, Hannah was named one of 15 women to watch in technology by INC Magazine.
  • Jennifer Applebaum is leading product development for LessonWriter, a platform that lets teachers turn any digital content into a teachable lesson, instantly and in full compliance with curriculum standards and requirements.
  • Co-Founder Nicole Mercer is the design genius behind Thryve, a mobile food coach that lets you easily track what you eat, and checks back to monitor the connection between what you eat and how you feel. Due in large part to Nicole’s design expertise, Thryve was recently selected to be featured at the Fall Health 2.0 conference.

It has been an amazing experience working along side these amazing women – an experience that affirms our commitment to searching far and wide to find women ready to take the startup world by storm.

Are you a kickass woman founder? If so, I hope you will apply for Betaspring’s Fall session.

Here’s what we offer: Betaspring’s 12-week accelerator enables teams with a strong start on a high-growth venture to rapidly transform into fundable, scalable companies. Betaspring teams receive intense mentoring, access to Betaspring’s mentor and alumni network, seed capital, work space and immersion in an entrepreneurial culture with a strong peer support network. Betaspring has accelerated 44 companies since its launch in 2009 and our alums have raised more than $20M in follow-on funding.

Don’t let another season go by – build the company to want to build and do in 12 weeks what others do in a year. To apply, visit Betaspring.

Companies who apply by May 21, 2012 are eligible to attend on June 11 an event for applicants with Betaspring mentors, alumni and special guests.
