Women In The Law, We’re Building An App For You

Creating a mobile app for women in the field of law.
By Lynnett E. Brooks (Juris Doctor Candidate, 2013, New York Law School)

By way of introduction, three law students from New York Law School, University of Miami School of Law, and School of Transnational Law, Peking University.

We are part of a program called Law Without Walls where we are prompted to identify a problem or “gap” area within our topic in order to design a project to solve the problem using a method that incorporates innovation and technology.

Our assigned topic is “Women in the Law; Is the Glass Ceiling Cracked, Smashed or Unbreakable?”

Our goal is to create a mobile app for women in the field of law.

We want this application to offer networking, as well as access to information regarding current news/events, women’s law organizations, research and development, international news, etc. We feel that creating a network and easier access to information will facilitate women in climbing the professional ladder and reaching higher levels of leadership in the field of law.

What will make our app different and appealing is that it is a one-stop shop that serves as a repository of information in a substantive, user-friendly and aesthetically-pleasing.

We have created an online survey to choose which topics women in the legal profession would want to have access to. Please take a few moments (it is only 8 short questions) to complete this survey so that we can tailor our app to your interests. We want to receive as much feedback as possible from this survey and would greatly appreciate if you could send it along to any colleagues/students/friends that are women involved in law.
