Update on the WIE Prize Winner

For three months, we searched for the next female tech trailblazing entrepreneur. Today, we are pleased to announce Charlene Kuperstein (Co-Founder, AppRats) as the winner of the 1st WIE Prize.

Charlene has been involved in the startup world for the last three years. In this time she has been continually developing the skills and knowledge necessary to build and launch products that can attract millions of users. She is a self-taught programmer who knew that learning this skill was her best path to making a significant impact on the world. Charlene’s head has always been in the stars, from looking through telescopes at age three, to earning her degree in Astrophysics at Columbia University.

AppRats creates a suite of Facebook, iPhone and Android applications that enable content providers to distribute their content to their community. They deliver notifications highly integrated into each of these platforms that let users know whenever new content is available. AppRats is focused on dominating the emerging YouTube video market and are currently working with 5 of the top 10 content producers on all of YouTube. AppRats recognized there was a strong need for their technology and have since seen exponential growth in their users. Their user base is currently growing at a continually increasing rate of 7,000 users per day. AppRats is getting over 2 million page views per month, and in just two months have distributed over 40,000 iPhone apps. Congratulations Charlene and we wish you nothing but success!
The i/o ventures & WIE Prize includes:
