    Our company was born out of a women’s conference (no joke!). We founded Tumml in 2012 after working as co-directors of the MIT Sloan Women in Management Conference, the largest women’s event on campus that year, headlined by Marissa Mayer. We really loved working together, so we began looking for other opportunities to partner with one other.

    After the conference, we met with one of the speakers, a venture capitalist based in Silicon Valley, who was interested in investing in the next generation of urban innovators (think Uber and Airbnb). Her passion for the space piqued our interest

    Previous Women 2.0 Conference speaker Robin Chase founded ZipCar, which went public in April 2011 and announced plans today to be acquired by car rental giant Avis.

    “Like Airbnb for cars” – social carsharing marketplace Getaround announced raising $13.9M in Series A funding today led by Menlo Ventures. In the list of investors includes Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer. Getaround was founded by Jessica Scorpio who also serves as director of marketing.

    Getaround’s vision is “to make the world a better place through the power of disruptive technology, movements and ideas with a focus on collaborative consumption and sustainability.”
