Would you use a spray-on alternative to your morning coffee?

WARNING: Prepare to see more V-necks and unbuttoned collars around the office thanks to a new way of taking in caffeine –Sprayable Energy.
The product is an alternative to your morning coffee/preferred energy beverage, and is safe to use as long as your don’t go over the suggested amount (up to six sprays in four hours).
The co-founder of the caffeine dispenser, Deven Soni, will be speaking at our Las Vegas Conference in November in the “Your Senses in the Future” panel, which will explore how technology is disrupting the way we physically interact with our surroundings.
Soni, a former venture capitalist, has “advised several startups in the e-commerce and retail sectors,” according to his bio on Indiegogo. His co-founder, Ben Yu, took a leave from Harvard and became a Thiel fellow two years ago, according to SFGate.
The product, packaged in a slick cylinder tube, with a spray cap on top, has received a lot of buzz on media outlets recently and reached 110% of it’s goal in the first 24 hours of the campaign according to it’s indiegogo page. As explained in Sprayable Energy’s video promo, the product is odorless, colorless and does not leave a sticky residue. The caffeine is absorbed through your skin with the help of a “secret formula” that they have been working on for a number of years, according to their website.
Sprayable Energy also comes without the side-effects that caffeinated beverages can cause, including jittery feelings, nausea and crashes. Each bottle holds the amount of caffeine equivalent to 40 cups of coffee, and is more cost efficient according to the video promo.
The New York Daily News reports.
“The concept is refreshingly simple. Sprayable Energy consists of water, caffeine and an amino acid that helps the body absorb it. Four sprays of the odorless solution on a person’s neck or wrists will provide roughly the same caffeine as a small cup of coffee, but because the product is absorbed through the skin, it comes with less of a jolt and fewer lingering jitters than your average Starbucks coffee or Monster energy drink.”
The pocket size bottle would most certainly be faster than waiting in line at [insert regular coffee store], and consuming [insert preferred energy drink], and/or brewing your caffeinated beverage at home. It also could potentially eliminate lots of coffee breath. And we’re down with that. But like E! we wonder: “What would happen if you spill it on yourself?” Perhaps we’ll ask Soni at our conference.
