Pipeline Fellowship To Train New Women Angel Investors In San Francisco And Los Angeles

Angel investing bootcamp for women philanthropists expands to the West Coast.

By Angela Giacchetti (Summer Associate, Pipeline Fellowship)

After hosting successful programs in New York, the Pipeline Fellowship is launching on the West Coast this summer and has opened a call for applications for San Francisco and Los Angeles programs this fall 2012.

The Pipeline Fellowship trains women philanthropists to become angel investors through education, mentoring, and practice. The Fellows commit to invest in a woman-led, for-profit social venture in exchange for equity and a board seat at the end of the training.

The Pipeline Fellowship’s three main criteria to apply are:

  1. Meeting one of the accredited investors definitions.
  2. Interest in a group learning model.
  3. Passion for philanthropy and/or social change.

For most of the Pipeline Fellows, this is their first angel investment. They are attracted by the program’s three components (education, mentoring, practice) and benefit from the diversity of each cohort.

The Fellows are intergenerational (ranging from late twenties to 60+) and come from a variety of professional backgrounds. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis with interviews commencing late July 2012.
