PITCH NYC now accepting applications globally for the startup competition - deadline to apply is August 31. By Angie Chang (Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Women 2.0)

We've celebrate five years of PITCH here in the Silicon Valley. Remember our 1000 conference attendees on Valentine's Day at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View?

At PITCH 2012, we enjoyed a full day of product innovation leaders speaking about building companies, and watched the finalists of the startup competition present to investors for feedback and prizes.

Now we're taking PITCH to New York City!

That's right, Women 2.0 is coming to New York this fall.

We are now accepting applications for PITCH NYC from early-stage ventures around the world with at least one female founder to apply to the startup competition. Deadline to apply is August 31, 2012. PITCH NYC 2012 will provide entrepreneurs with a chance for fame and fortune: finalists present onstage at the conference, and prizes include $25k cash from L'Oreal, $24k worth of free hosting from Rackspace and a finalist interview with TechStars! Stay tuned for more awesome prizes to be announced.

Early-stage ventures with under a million in funding and a product in the market (prototype OK) are invited to apply. We are looking to identify, recognize and reward the most disruptive women-led ventures globally - and invite them to pitch onstage for the PITCH NYC conference in November for top prize.

Got a startup idea but no team, or got an idea but don't know how to build it?

You have at least THREE MONTHS starting today to emblazen the deadline of August 31 into your head and make it happen.

Go to a Startup Weekend (or any decent hackathon) and pitch your idea to the crowd - see if you can get a team together and build a prototype over a weekend. Or spend time doing lean startup and customer development on your idea with crowd at the hackathon and available mentors.

Scope out a Founder Friday in a city by you to meet like-minded entrepreneurial people - maybe you'll meet your future startup co-founder, a new partnership or find out about a great new website. Regardless, you are sure to be inspired and motivated by the people you meet.

Business plan competitions and contests provide a hard date to get your ducks in a row.

Take this opportunity to get your ducks in a row and launch a startup by summer's end - it's just icing on the cake if you win.

Practice swinging for the fences, we want you to hit a home run one day with your high-growth venture!
