We’ve two months away from Women 2.0′s first PITCH Conference in New York City featuring speakers including Michelle You, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Songkick.

Since launching in 2007 as a Y Combinator company, Songkick has gone on to raise rounds of venture funding, most recently from Sequoia Capital and is second only to Ticketmaster.

Fun facts about Songkick’s Michelle You:

  • Songkick started when live music enthusiast Michelle suggested to her co-founders to build a product to scan her iTunes library and send her an email every time a band came into town.
  • The philosophy major puts her degree to use by exercising that analytical rigor in leading product management at Songkick.
  • Michelle met her co-founder Ian while they were both studying Mandarin in Beijing. When they met up in New York later, Songkick came together.

One of the few successful startups disrupting the entertainment business, Songkick’s live music API enables other fun apps like Tastebuds.fm, matching people based on music they like and suggesting concerts to go on a date together.

The opportunities seem endless for Songkick: offices in London and San Francisco, plenty of venture funding in the bank and lots of user traction. Catch Michelle You speaking at PITCH NYC Conference on November 14, 2012 – get your ticket now!
